Johnathan Stephenson, Warwick High School Class of 2018, is the first recipient of the Warwick Education Foundation Lititz Storytelling Festival Scholarship. The scholarship was initiated in honor of Brenda Burkholder and David Worth founders of the Lititz Storytelling Festival. It is presented to a graduating senior who demonstrates excellence in the written word, spoken word, communications, or performance. Johnathan is a deserving recipient having been highly involved with musical performance including the Production Company, Show Choir and musicals while at Warwick High School.
Over 2,000 elementary students and their families participated in this year’s One School One Book One Community program – reading the same book at the same time. The program, designed to get kids reading and funded by the Warwick Education Foundation, is in its second year district-wide. Families read a chapter a night and conducted a variety of at-home activities – from service and art projects to games and just spending time together. The grand finale was an evening with book author Victoria J. Coe at Warwick Middle School. Woof! Woof! (that’s dog-speak for “high five”) to all who participated.

Thanks to you, Warwick students will have all kinds of extra enrichment.
The Warwick Education Foundation funded a total of $33,167 in grants for the 2017-2018 school year to enrich student education in the Warwick School District. Twenty-eight grant applications were received and 15 grants were approved and awarded this school year. Over 45 teachers will implement the grants throughout the current school year. One Book, One School, One Community expanded this year to all four elementary schools in the Warwick School District. Over 2,000 students, and their families read The Lemonade War, by Jacqueline Davies, sponsored by WEF.
