Strengthening Young Readers Across Warwick: How Literacy Grants Are Making a Difference
December 16, 2025Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Edward Albert
If there’s one thing that defines Dr. Ed Albert, it’s his unwavering belief in the life-changing power of education. With nearly 50 years of experience, from classroom teacher to principal, IU administrator, and superintendent, Dr. Albert has dedicated his entire career to helping students and teachers succeed. Today, he continues that work as the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools and as an educational consultant.
His connection to Warwick runs deep. Both of his children graduated from Warwick High School, and his commitment to strengthening the district made joining the Warwick Education Foundation a natural next step.
A Leader Rooted in Service
Dr. Albert joined the Foundation at the invitation of the late Dr. John Bonfield, the Foundation’s founder. Their shared belief in giving back to the community and in supporting teachers has shaped Dr. Albert’s longtime involvement.
“I’m a strong advocate for teachers, who are truly in the trenches, shaping students’ lives every day. That’s why our classroom grants are so important. They’re putting resources directly into the hands of teachers where they can make an immediate and lasting difference,” he explained.
His leadership has been instrumental in the success of one of the Ed Foundation’s most beloved traditions: the annual Golf Classic. What began as a bold idea decades ago has grown into a flagship fundraiser that continues to bring the community together year after year.
A Legacy of Possibility
One of Dr. Albert’s favorite memories dates back to that very first tournament. While the board was still considering the idea, he and a small group of volunteers began laying the groundwork. They secured sponsors, rallied support, and came to the board with a fully developed plan. His positive attitude and actions speak to his confidence in taking initiative when something has the potential of benefitting students.
More than 25 years later, the Golf Classic stands as a testament to determination and to what’s possible when passionate volunteers lead with vision.
Looking Ahead
Dr. Albert hopes the Foundation will continue to be powered by individuals with that same spirit: volunteers who don’t just support education but elevate it, ensuring Warwick students have the tools, opportunities, and encouragement to thrive.
Dr. Albert, thank you for your leadership, passion, and steadfast belief in what’s possible when a community invests in its children. Your impact is felt in every classroom, every grant awarded, and every student inspired to dream bigger.
