With a New Podcast Studio, Students Stream Ideas Through Their Community & Beyond

When you create and distribute a podcast, your voice can reach millions of ears, and there’s no limit to the impact your ideas can have on the world.

With equipment purchased through a Warwick Education Foundation grant, Warwick High School students have a professional podcast studio and the latest podcasting equipment at their fingertips. And the new studio is already making an impact.

Warwick High School English Language Arts teacher, Alina Rakiewicz, applied for the Warwick Education Foundation grant to give students access to a professional podcast studio that would enhance the district’s broadcasting curriculum. The studio is giving her students the opportunity to learn about sound engineering, audio production, and project management. It’s also nurturing students’ critical thinking, writing, and public speaking skills.

“Podcasts are a form of media meant to be shared with a wider audience,” Mrs. Rakiewicz said. “Our podcast studio is helping connect our school community with the larger Warwick community and beyond.”

The Ed Foundation grant funded the purchase of podcasting equipment, including microphones, headphones, lighting, a conference table, chairs, and sound-proofing panels.

“Many students can be found in the studio during flex periods working to produce their own independent podcasts as the excitement of our new studio continues to grow,” Mrs.  Rakiewicz said.

Bringing innovative learning opportunities, like the podcast studio, to students throughout the district is possible due to the dedication of our Warwick Education Foundation volunteers, donors, and our incredible Warwick community of supporters. Thank you for supporting the students and teachers of Warwick.
