October 1, 2024Volunteer Spotlight: Dr. Daniel Doremus
Our community of volunteers is what makes our work at the Ed Foundation possible! It’s their stories that inspire us and keep our flame burning. One such volunteer, Dr. Daniel Doremus, has been with us since our inception in 1997.
From his early beginnings as a teacher, to Principal, Director of Curriculum, and finally in 1986 as Assistant Superintendent at Warwick School District, Dr. Daniel Dormeus has exemplified a life of devotion in education and community. Both he and his late wife, Cathy, who was a Lititz Library board member, shared the value of dedicating their time to create a wonderful place to live.
“We’re very fortunate that our town of Lititz and the Warwick School District work closely together.”
It’s through this collaboration and effort that the Foundation is able to provide impactful educational opportunities and experiences to Warwick students and teachers.
Still today, Dan’s work with the Warwick Education Foundation continues to make an impact in the Warwick School District. Throughout his 20 plus years of volunteering, Dan has served in a variety of capacities, most recently as WEF Vice President. One of his favorite programs is One Book One School One Community.
“Every elementary student in the district receives the same book to keep and read with their class and families. It brings everyone together.”
Helping teachers receive funds for innovative classroom experiences remains Dan’s most gratifying work. He recalls his time working in Warwick School District administration alongside WEF founder, Dr. John Bonfield.
“He would often say, “It’s our job to provide teachers with the right tools to do their job, then stand back and let them work their magic.””
Dan agrees. “In Warwick School District, well, we are fortunate to have a lot of talented magicians.”
Thank you, Dr. Daniel Doremus for your dedication and support of the Warwick Education Foundation! We are so grateful for the work you have done in our schools and community!
